About Us

The Downtown Dog Park Association began in 2004 with a passion and commitment to support downtown revitalization. Our mission is to establish off leash dog exercise areas in close proximity to urban housing to support the development of a thriving downtown community.

The Columbus Downtown Dog Park Association (CDDPA) is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) public charity. All donations and funding are specifically used to cover the costs and expenses for the creation, operation and maintenance of the park(s).

To date we’ve raised awareness and interest with the Columbus City Council and the Columbus Recreations & Parks Department, researched models for urban dog exercise areas and associations, met with urban dwellers to identify their needs and seek their support, and have begun fundraising.

To move this initiative forward we must:

  • Find an appropriate and available land parcel.
  • Raise funds to secure land and construct the dog park.
  • Establish an agency network of volunteers to maintain and manage the park
